To those who say that the Iranians had nothing to do with 9/11—as I hear in question periods at lectures—I answer that the Iranians had as much to do with 9/11 as Nazi Germany had to do with Pearl Harbor. Given the common aims shared by Germany, Italy, and Japan in 1941—and the support that they provided each other in non-material ways—the lack of any particular command decision was irrelevant. Fortunately, in 1941, we recognized the common threat posed by all of them, and we demanded an end to Nazi Germany.
